“Millions of people are affected by the climate crisis every single day but there is no action and I have stopped waiting for any. We, the youth will take action. We will unite and organise for a just and equitable future.” – Disha Ravi

Disha Ravi is one of the founding members of Fridays For Future India. Her story of observing her grandparents who are farmers struggling with the effects of climate change from her early childhood and finally deciding to do something about it actively is truly inspirational.

On today’s episode, we talk about her motivation to join climate activism, the importance of climate education, how activism has transformed in the age of “social distancing” and what is 1.5 and why it matters.

Namaste, Welcome to Inside Traveller’s Shoes! I’m Prerana, a brown-eyed girl from the vast land of many cultures – India. Just as much as I’m starstruck with the world and all the beauty it contains, I am proud of my own origins and love my country immensely. And I’m not here to tell you another story of how I quit my job to travel the world. Because frankly, I never had a “typical” one to begin with.

So, what would you normally find here, you ask? I suppose scribbles on life and experiences – as I gulp it one day at a time; things that make my soul flutter and everything that brings me happiness – a large part of which includes travel. For I do hope in some way, you’ll find your truth and yourself through it all. And it helps you “live your own extraordinary tale”.

Day 4: Psychedelic

For the prompt Psychedelic, @letteringstylechallenge by @aureliemaron, Rishikesh just fit right in.

A holy town by the river Ganga that emerges from the Himalayas, it is known as the Yoga Capital of the World. People come here to learn and practice different Yoga styles and it is filled with Pilgrims, the Spiritually Curious and Adventurous.

Here I decided to illustrate the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram or better known as Beatles Ashram.

Day 3: Ligature

For the prompt Ligature, @letteringstylechallenge by @aureliemaron, I had my mind on Diu and this one facade that I found really pretty there.

Diu is a small island joined to the state of Gujarat with a bridge. With its Portuguese Architecture and influence in the town it seemed only apt to bring that out for this piece.

After a lot of experimentation and wondering why I decided to paint such an elaborate background, I completed this postcard. The initial style of my lettering didn’t work and I had to re-do it to match the background once it was done. Finally simplicity won and something emerged that I was happy to look at. But I’m glad I didn’t abandon it halfway and saw it through.

Day 2: Ribbon

For the prompt Ribbon of @letteringstylechallenge by @aureliemaron, I wanted my piece to be delicate and light. Coastal city of Kochi seemed perfect for it. With its history welcoming many cultures and many types of buildings I was at a loss about what I would pick to represent it. And ocean and the unique chinese fishing nets seemed to be the answer to my vision.

Day 1: Bevel

A bit late to the party but here’s my addition to the first prompt of @letteringstylechallenge Style Challenge by @aureliemaron.

Since travel is a huge part of who I am,I decided to letter some postcards of my Favourite Places in India.

Agra is the first thing that comes to mind whenever anyone wants to travel here. Seeped in Mughal Architecture, I remember reading as a child that true beauty of Taj Mahal is witnessed on a Full Moon Night…
