As part of the Lettering Style Challenge, I decided to create postcards from some of the favourite places I’ve been to.
We were given a prompt and we had to use that particular lettering style to spark our creativity to let our piece have it’s own personality and speak for itself.
Agra is the first thing that comes to mind whenever anyone wants to travel here. Seeped in Mughal Architecture, I remember reading as a child that the true beauty of the Taj Mahal is witnessed on a Full Moon Night.
I made my lettering part of the Mughal Jali and gave it a pale yellow colour and the background a lovely midnight blue to represent the moonlight in the dark of the night.
Ribbons are feminine and soft. I wanted my piece to be just as delicate and light. The coastal city of Kochi seemed perfect for this. The ocean and the unique Chinese fishing nets seemed to bring my vision to life.
For this prompt, I had my mind on Diu and this one facade that I found really pretty there.
Diu is a small island joined to the state of Gujarat with a bridge. With its Portuguese Architecture and influence in the town, it seemed only apt to bring that out for this piece.
After a lot of experimentation and wondering why I decided to paint such an elaborate background, I completed this postcard. The initial style of my lettering didn’t work and I had to re-do it to match the background once it was done. Finally, simplicity won and something emerged that I was happy to look at.
For the prompt Psychedelic, Rishikesh just fit right in.
A holy town by the river Ganga that emerges from the Himalayas, it is known as the Yoga Capital of the World. People come here to learn and practice different Yoga styles and it is filled with Pilgrims, the Spiritually Curious and Adventurous.
Here I decided to illustrate the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram or better known as Beatles Ashram accompanied by Psychedelic Lettering and gave it a Rastafari drop shadow.
Sometime last year after I had fractured my shoulder and the doctor told it was okay for me to start using my hands to draw again, I was ecstatic!
My hands were itching to create magic after almost two months of rest. It was also a time of contemplation for me, rethinking what I was drawn towards the most, the one I could now call my calling. And it happened to be “Lettering”.
The art of decorative letters was fascinating and the myriad of ways I could draw the same 26 of them to convey moods on any part of the spectrum. I took @aureliemaron‘s courses to refine my skills to take up more client work.
One of my first projects was to create a Studio Sign for “Inside Traveller’s Shoes” which would act as a platform for both my Travel and Art Ventures.
My inspiration was to incorporate Neon Signs and the Wild West and I am extremely happy with this result.
So tell me, What ignites your soul on fire lately?

Earlier this year, on our Goa roadtrip, we decided to stay at a Family Run Homestay by the Riverside in Honnavar.
Here’s how living in a Homestay added a “New Dimension” to our stay in Honnavar:
👉🏼 We got to have yum home-cooked local meals and learnt more about the diet of the people in this region.
👉🏼 Day turned into night as we spend our evening boat watching.
👉🏼 We woke up early to observe the fog rising through the Sharavati river while we sat and watched the Sun slowly fill the sky in its light in the morning.
👉🏼 Being present in the moment and observing the time pass us by ever so slowly and experiencing “The Slow Life”.
Here’s a glimpse of what awaited us at Sunrise the next morning. 🌞
Would you choose a Homestay next time you travel?

“If it`s Meant To Be, It’s Upto Me”
It`s been one of my favourite Affirmations lately.
It takes away the lack of control from the classic “Que Sera Sera” and adds accountability to your own self and actions to make your dreams happen.
This Affirmation now rests in the very beginning of my BuJo and remind me of the resolve when things seem low.
What are some of your favourite Affirmations?
PS - Did you notice me struggling when my brush pen ran out of ink? Handlettering is filled with moments like that.😉

All Smiles porque Ser Feliz 😀
This was so unexpected and I’ve never danced like this so I was also pretty clueless. Have a long way to go with Salsa & Mambo but I’m glad to have shared this dance with @alan_soldek @erikymonika.salsadancers
Thank you for capturing this fun moment my favourite @soundrider ❤️
